COMMODORE PROFILE-Tom Johnston

Tom Johnston "TJ", resident of "Casa Strangelove" in Southern California, Commodore collector, and wind-up toy collector is this month's Commodore Profile. His witty auto-biographical remarks are most entertaining. TJ is a fascinating ComCom member. Here's what he says about himself.
"Well, I was born a child and have pretty much remained an irresponsible adolescent since then...which is to say for the last 40+ years now."

"I've three kids, two home, and a lovely wife, Diane (whom I met over the ol' Q-Link on-line service) and two cats (currently..,numbers fluctuate on this one)."

"I work as a Respiratory Therapist, mostly managing Blood Gas Labs, but also critical care and our Cystic Fibrosis clinic. I like to camp more than I can find time for it (mostly in the Sierras), and dabble in home brewing, and minor household projects."

"Musical tastes run the gamut between "classic rock" like Moodies/Beatles etc to Sinatra, Los Lobos and Tom Waits...so go figure. I'm fond of SF literature and film, animations and anime, and have an aquarium that I mostly neglect, but prefer to think of as a "natural habitat"...right."

"I also collect cheap plastic wind-up toys, you know, hopping chicks, flip-flop cars, crawlie things...they're cheap and you don't feel bad about not dusting them regularly. Oh, and if anyone out there has a Sunbeam Tiger out there to donate to my collection...please feel free to pack it up and mail it over..."

"Oh...yeah...the Commodores...almost forgot them..."

"Yep, I've got a bunch of 'em, but mostly hunker down to a 128D with a pile of drives too tall to see over hooked up to it. I used to edit a user group newsletter until the club folded, and am an occasional contributor to the UG I currently belong to, the Civic 64/128 in Oxnard, CA. mostly dabbling in on-line access, and GEOS."

"My GEOS efforts, in my UG, have earned, me the appellation of "Guru", which is an indication of how small our UG is. By the way...if you haven't heard the word "Guru" pronounced by an East Texas/Oklahoma boy (like our club Secy/Treasurer) you really should make the effort."

"Lastly I'm determined to have the biggest, baddest Commodore on the block, which shouldn't be hard..since its likely the only Commie on the block."

"Adios!"
